Melbourne Theatre Company's HUNGRY GHOSTS Goes On Tour Melbourne Theatre Company's world premiere production of Hungry Ghosts commences its regional tour in Bendigo today before going on to play at five other leading performing arts venues in Victoria, as well as Launceston College in Tasmania.

Hungry Ghosts is a new Australian work by Jean Tong starring Emina Ashman, Jing-Xuan Chan and Bernard Sam that offers an unconventional take on contemporary life as it criss-crosses between the fate of flight MH370, Malaysia's billion-dollar 1MDB scandal, and explorations of identity.

Directed by Petra Kalive, Hungry Ghosts is part of MTC's award-winning education program that reaches thousands of students across Victoria through programming for young audiences, regional touring, scholarships, workshops and more.

MTC Executive Director Virginia Lovett said, 'Each year we take our education production on tour as part of our mission to make theatre and the creative industries accessible to young people around the state. It is wonderful to once again extend our regional tour not only to Victoria, but also across the Strait to Tasmania. Hungry Ghosts was developed through our 2017 Cybec Electric Play Reading Series, and we are proud to now present this brand new Australian work on our 2018 education tour.'

MTC's tour program features free pre-show talks and post-show Q&As for school groups, and the opportunity for students to participate in free creative workshops that will focus on the themes, ideas and non-naturalistic performance style of the production.

The tour is part of MTC's Sharing the Light initiative which is generously supported by the Crown Resorts Foundation and Packer Family Foundation.
