The Filigree Theatre Presents The Closing Weekend Of MISS JULIE The Filigree Theatre, Austin's independent, women-led theatre company, will close out the first show of its 2018-19 slate with the final three performances of MISS JULIE. Starring Shonagh Smith ("Julie"), Brennan Patrick ("Jean") and Diana Rose ("Kristine"), August Strindberg's classic play is directed by Elizabeth V. Newman and produced by Stephanie Moore. The third and final weekend of the show run Thursday, October 18 - Saturday, October 20 at The Mastrogeorge Theatre (130 Pedernales St.) in Austin, TX. Tickets for the closing weekend of MISS JULIE are on sale now at filigreetheatre.com

Co-founded by Elizabeth V. Newman (Artistic Director & Co-Managing Director) and Stephanie Moore (Producer/Co-Managing Director), The Filigree Theatre was established in 2017 with a commitment to producing high-level, professional theatre in the city of Austin and to collaborating with local artists working across creative disciplines including fine arts, dance, film and music. The company returned for its second season at the beginning of October and will be followed by a prosecution "When We Were Young and Unafraid" by Sarah Treem in winter (February 7-24, 2019) with the spring production to be announced.

"Elizabeth and I founded this company with the mission both to connect Austin creatives to theatre communities around the country, and to showcase the talented, emerging artists here in Austin," said Moore. "We are working to bring high-quality productions to the diverse audiences here in the city."

The Filigree Theatre's second season will center around the theme "At The Crossroads," with each play examining how, at crucial moments in our lives, we, as humans, find ourselves at the brink of change, faced with life and death decisions, confronted with a point of no return. The season is structured to include three productions: the fall show (past) will be from theatre cannon; the winter show (present) will be a work of a playwright living and working today; and the spring show (future) production will be a new work/world premiere.

"As we delve into our second season of shows, I am excited to explore, with our ensemble of theatre-makers, what those catalysts are: passion; ambition; fate; circumstances, etc., that drive the characters in each production, and us, as people, right to the knife's edge. In doing so, I look forward to discovering, with our audiences, what common sinews further weave together the three shows in our second season" said Newman.
