Runaway Success NORTH BY NORTHWEST Makes Brisbane Debut At QPAC Runaway success North by Northwest makes its brisbane debut this November for two weeks only!

Following sell out seasons in Melbourne, the U.K. and Toronto, the triumphant stage adaption of Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest is coming to Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), this November, with tickets on sale from 9.00am Friday 3 August.

Combining the magic of film and theatre, this incredible production of Hitchcock's supreme comedy of suspense will be presented live on QPAC's Lyric Theatre stage from 27 November 2018 for two weeks only.

Every twist, every thrill, every hairbreadth escape from Hitchcock's original genius work is retained for this stunning new stage production by director Simon Phillips and adapted for the stage by Carolyn Burns; the creative team behind Ladies in Black.

Roger O. Thornhill is a suave and successful advertising executive, abducted by thugs who insist he is a man called George Kaplan. Chaos ensues. When they don't believe him, that's infuriating. When they try to kill him, that's frightening. And when they pin a murder on him, that's time to run! From New York to South Dakota, Thornhill is chased by spies, Feds, crop-dusting planes and the inevitable cool blonde.

Everything you will recall from the original Hitchcock film, from drunken car rides down twisting roads, a love affair on a train, to the famous cliff hanger ending on Mount Rushmore is recreated live on stage.

Originally produced by the Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) and Kay & McLean Productions, this reworking of Hitchcock's classic spy-thriller enjoyed an overwhelmingly successful premiere season at the Art Centre Melbourne in 2015 and second season at the State Theatre, Melbourne in 2016, receiving glowing reviews and standing ovations.

The talented cast includes acclaimed Australian actors Matt Day in the leading role of man on the run, Roger O. Thornhill and Amber McMahon as femme fatale Eve Kendall, both reprising their leading roles from the Melbourne seasons of North by Northwest.

Kay & McLean Productions' Liza McLean said she and Andrew Kay are thrilled to bring North by Northwest to QPAC for its Queensland premiere season.

"We were extremely proud to work with the MTC and our extraordinary Australian creative team to bring Hitchcock's iconic film to the stage for the first time in 2015, and to see its continued success in Australia and overseas.

"This production has it all - glamour, thrills and intelligence. We look forward to presenting North by Northwest in collaboration with QPAC to Queensland theatre goers later this year ahead of it continuing its future international acclaim with additional seasons planned for London and North America," said Ms McLean.

Don't miss this lightning paced thriller that combines glamour with espionage for a truly irresistible cocktail. Playing in QPAC's Lyric Theatre for a strictly limited season from 27 November, tickets are on sale from 9.00am Friday 3 August. To book go to qpac.com.au or phone 136 246.
