New York City's On the Quays Will Present STOP/OVER As Part Of Dublin Fringe Fest

On The Quays, a New York City based production company aimed at producing works that promote inclusivity, has announced it will present the world premiere production of Gary Duggan's STOP/OVER, a swift new play about rekindled friendship, as part of the 2018 Dublin Fringe Festival. STOP/OVER invites audiences to reinvent their past, live in the moment, and at least for one night- forget about the future as we follow a young Irish couple literally and imaginatively on a journey through New York City from café to club to gallery, through bedrooms, subway stations, dreams and hallucinations. The two hander features Ashleigh Dorrell, nominated for "Best Performer" at The Dublin Fringe Awards for "Animalia" (2016) and marks the professional theatrical debut of Siobhán

Callaghan, a graduate of The Lir Academy's 2018 class.

Denis Clohessy (Sound), Eoin Lennon (Lighting) ,recent graduate of the Lir's MFA design program; Jack Scullion (Scenic/Costume) currently on Rough Magic's SEEDS program; Líadan Ní Chearbhaill (Production Management), Rachael Kivlehan (Stage Management) and Grace Halton (Assistant Stage Manager). In addition to Nicola Murphy, On The Quays Directors include; Michael Quadrino (Producer), Matt Engle (Associate Director/Producer), Keiji Ishiguri (Music Supervisor/Associate Producer), AnLi Kelly-Durham (Line Producer) and Jenna Tanzola (Social Media Management/Producer).

STOP/OVER marks On The Quays' third international production, following RENT at Cas di Cultura in Aruba, which was the first time the production was presented in that country and also the premiere production by any American professional company at the National Theatre. The company also presented the critically acclaimed production The Last Days of Cleopatra at The New Theatre: Dublin.

Gary Duggan is an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, and director. His plays have performed internationally and he has been commissioned three times by The Abbey Theatre. Gary co-wrote the highly acclaimed and much talked about RTE primetime drama, AMBER, which premiered in Ireland in January 2014 and aired on BBC4 in June 2014. He's also a regular writer on FAIR CITY contributing multiple episodes across its last six seasons.

Nicola Murphy is an Actor/Director/Producer, and Co-Founder of On The Quays Productions, a New York based international production company.She is a graduate of The American Academy Of Dramatic Arts, NY conservatory acting program and received her MFA in Directing from The Lir, National Academy Of Dramatic Art, Trinity College Dublin. Previous Directing credits include; the premiere production of RENT at Cas Di Cultura, Aruba's National Theatre, this production also performed a sold-out run at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The World Premiere of Beef by Michael Musi, at The Box Theatre in Toronto, the short film FLOAT (Co-Directed), The Events by David Greig at The Lir Academy, Alone With Friends at Holiday House NYC & Mighty Atoms at The American Academy Of Dramatic Arts. Assistant Directing credits include Katie Roche at The Abbey, Silence is Requested at The Lir Academy, working with Shirley Knight on Sir. Peter Shaffer's Five Finger Exercise celebration reading at The Players Club NYC, Trans-Euro Express at The Irish Arts Centre & an assistantship placement with Neal Street Productions on the hit UK Show Call The Midwife ( BBC & PBS ). Nicola was selected to participate in Director's Lab North 2014 in Toronto, Canada, & Director's Lab Chicago in 2016. She is a faculty member teaching artist on NJPAC's arts education program, and member of The Young Vic Director's Program, London. In 2018 Nicola was selected as part of SDCF's 2018-2019 Observership Class. STOP/OVER marks her professional directorial debut in Dublin.

Ashleigh Dorrell's Theatre credits include; Mae in Ciara Elizabeth Smyth's award winning 'All Honey', Brigit in Katie McCann's 'The Grimm Tale of Cinderella', Lydia Languish in 'The Rivals', Sarah Walters in 'Animalia', Anne Brontë and Cathey Earnsahw in Polly Teale's 'Brontë', Woman in Philip Ridely's 'Tender Napalm', Paige Turner in Theatre Lovett's 'The Absurd Cat Quiz' and Meg March in 'The Wise Wound'. Film work includes 'Nightshift' by Steve Hall and Greenflash Pictures. She was nominated for Best Performer at the Dublin Fringe Awards, for 'Animalia', which won the Stewart Parker BBC NI Radio Drama Award, the Fishamble New Writing Award and was nominated for the Bewley's Little Gem Award. She is a graduate of The Gaiety School of Acting.

Siobhán Callaghan is a classically trained actor from Dublin. She recently graduated from The Lir Academy and this is her first professional debut in the theatre world since finishing her training in July 2018. During her time in the Lir she played parts such as "Christine" in Tom Stoppard's "Dalliance" directed by Hilary Wood, various characters in "Incognito" by Nick Payne directed by Ronan Leahy, the "Messenger" in "Thyestes" directed by Annabelle Comyn and "Widow Quin" in "The Playboy of The Western World" directed by Caitríona McLaughlin. Prior to The Lir, Siobhán performed in a sold out run of "Coppers Uncovered: The Walk of Shame" in The Underbelly Theatre and "Keeping Abreast", directed by Michael Scott in The Assembly Theatre in The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. She also played various characters in "A Sense of Keane", pulling from the work of John B. Keane, directed by Michael Scott in the Civic Theatre. Siobhán trained in Bull Alley Theatre Training Company in 2012 where she played parts such as "Joan la Pucelle" in "Henry VI Part 1", directed by Niall Jordan and "Roxanne" in "Cyrano de Bergerac" directed by Simon Manahan. Her film credits include "Streetcar" directed by Laura Way and "The Late Men" directed by Van Poynton.

Preview performances are on Sep 10-11 @ 18:00 & 20:30. Tickets are €11.The run will continue on Sep 12-15, 17-20, 22-23 @ 18:00 & 20:30. Tickets are €15 / €13 conc - a total of 24 performances. There will not be a performance on September 16th.

The running time is 75 minutes.
