Megan McGinnis to Direct DADDY LONG LEGS in Raleigh

Theatre Raleigh ushers in the 2018 Summer Series with the classic "rags-to-riches" tale of newfound love Daddy Long Legs at the Kennedy Theatre May 16th through the 27th. This heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor is based on the classic novel by Jean Webster. The two-person musical is a beloved tale in the spirit of Jane Austen, The Brontë Sisters and "Downton Abbey".

All shows are at the Kennedy Theatre in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are on-sale and can be purchased at http://www.theatreraleigh.com.

This south-east regional premiere of Daddy Long Legs is being directed by industry veteran Megan McGinnis, who brings a wealth of experience with her. Starring Hilary Maiberger* as Jerusha Abbott, a talented orphan is sent to a prestigious college by an anonymous benefactor (played by Max Chernin* as Jervis) who insists on two conditions. That she writes to him once a month, and that she never knows his name - she knows him only as "Daddy Long Legs".

"How lucky can ya get? We are so excited to have Broadway veteran and the original star of the Off-Broadway production of Daddy Long Legs -Megan McGinnis directing this south-east regional premiere. It's fair to say she has the insider advantage having also been involved in all the readings, workshops and out of town tryouts! We are so honored to have her leading this show and I can't wait to share this special production with our audience," said Lauren Kennedy Brady, Artistic Director of Theatre Raleigh.
