KING ARTHUR Semi-Opera Opens at the Theater Basel this September

The Semi-opera of King Arthur by Henry Purcell and John Dryden opens in a new edition by Ewald Palmetshofer at the Big Stage. September 13, 2018. The opera is set to close Sunday December 16, 2018.

This opera combines acting, singing, music, and dance to create a dramatic storytelling of King Arthur. The La Cetra Baroque Orchestra and members of the drama and ballet ensemble will all come together under the baton of the British Baroque expert Christopher Molds and the Chorus of the Theater Basel to tell the story of King Arthur.

King Arthur tells the story of the island of Britanna and the alleged final battle between the British and the Saxon. The British king is lead through the enchanted, ghost- populated forest. The line between friend and foe becomes fragile, and the young king of the British must face his hardest test.

The opera will be in both German and English and both will have surtitles.
