BWW Previews: BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY at Maximteatern

Swedish news site SVT (Sveriges Television) visited the set and rehearsals of the Swedish production of Bridges of Madison County.

The shows producer Viktoria Tocca is also playing the lead role of Francesca.

"I saw Bridges in Madison County on Broadway in 2014. I had a slight idea of what it would be about but I was not prepared to be so severely hit by the story. I was alone in the theater and "Helena Bergström-cried" without any friend or something to dry my tears on. I was completely ruined after this performance. In a good way". Tocca realised that if the musical was supposed to be set up in Sweden in the near future, she would not get to play the lead role of Francesca.

"Because it's a wonderful portrait of women with music that suits my voice perfectly, a woman of my age with all the issues that arise in life at that time. And then I quickly realised that if another producer sets it up in Sweden, I will not play Frascesca. Because I'm not well known at home in Sweden. And then I began to research how to get hold of the rights" (SVT 2018)

Tocca got the right to produce the musical in Sweden it is now set to premiere at Maximteatern in september.

"It has been difficult to get a job in Sweden or even get an audition because people do not really know who you are or what you can. And then I'm not sitting at home and feeling sorry for myself, my own jobs. Starting own Production Company, buy the rights to Bridges in Madison county and we do this, says Viktoria Tocca.
