Patricia Skalka to Host Pre-Show Seminar for LIVING ON LOVE

Peninsula Players Theatre, in conjunction with its production of the Midwest premiere of a new Broadway comedy "Living on Love," will host author Patricia Skalka. Skalka will present in a free pre-show seminar on the process and challenges of ghostwriting in the theater Thursday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets to performances of "Living on Love" are available; admission to the pre-show seminar is free.

"Living on Love," a delightful comedy by Joe DiPietro, based on the play "Peccadillo" by Garson Kanin, features two ghostwriters who are hired by legendary, and egotistical, classical music superstars. High-jinks ensue while the writers try to navigate the temperaments of a diva and her husband, a fiery world-famous conductor, while meeting their publisher's deadline.

Patricia Skalka, the author of the popular Dave Cubiak Door County Mystery series, turned to fiction following a successful career in nonfiction. Skalka presents writing workshops throughout the United States and her many credits include serving as a staff writer for Reader's Digest, freelancer, ghostwriter, writing instructor and book reviewer.

Skalka is president of the Sisters in Crime Chicagoland Chapter and a member of several professional organizations, including The Authors Guild of America, Mystery Writers of America, and Society of Midland Authors. She lives in Chicago and Door County, Wisconsin and is the author of "Death Stalks Door County," "Death at Gills Rock," "Death in Cold Water" and "Death Rides the Ferry." "Death in Cold Water" is the winner of the Edna Ferber Fiction Award from the Council for Wisconsin Writers, Skalka turned to fiction following a successful career in nonfiction. Her debut mystery "Death Stalks Door County," was called a tight, lyrical first novel by "Publishers Weekly." It was also short-listed for the Chicago Writers Association Book of the Year Award and nominated for Best First Novel at the Love is Murder Mystery Writers Conference.

Peninsula Players Theatre is committed to providing educational programming for the community.
