Teatro Paraguas is pleased to host "Your `Self' in Self-Publishing," a three-hour workshop lead by Eva Murray of the San Francisco Bay Area, Founder of VERBALIST The workshop is scheduled at the theater on Saturday, November 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., 3205 Calle Marie, Suite B, Santa Fe, NM, 87507. Fee per person is $39 before October 15; $49 thereafter and the day of the event. It is designed for those ready to self-publish their work, writers and fine artists, as well as those seeking general information about it.

Workshop topics include:

  • Traditional book publishing vs. self-publishing models
  • The impact of Amazon and Kindle Desktop Publishing (KDP)
  • Other self-publishers; e.g., iBooks, boutiques, hybrids
  • A personal inventory worksheet to help participants decide their paths
  • Revenue potential
  • Audiences, whether social media, online, local
  • Putting yourself in the model: Marketing, author website, readings/exhibits, podcasts, interviews, book reviews

"As an author and professional writer for more than 20 years, there is a plethora of information about self-publishing and book publishing due to the democratization of publishing through do-it-yourself platforms," said Eva Murray, founder of VERBALIST, a communications firm. It's difficult to decide which path to take, whom to engage. This workshop endeavors to untangle the confusing marketing messages."

Workshop participants can expect a personalized approach. They should send their questions and interests to Ms. Murray in advance so that she can address them in the workshop. They will learn through worksheets and visual presentation; equally, through their participation in a casual, classroom style. Market resources for their future efforts will be provided. Beverages and snacks are provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Cash, checks and PayPal are accepted forms of payment.
