Ballet Folklórico De México Comes to Spencer Today, Today Considered the crown jewel of Mexican culture, Ballet Folklórico de México is a rich tapestry of theatrical folk dance, live mariachi music and lavish costuming that reflects ancient pre-Columbian civilizations through the modern era.

Founded in 1952 by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández, Ballet Folklórico has been distinguished with the most luminous cultural awards and honors within Mexico and abroad. The company performs throughout the year at its permanent home at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of Mexico City's most historic venues.

Its internationally touring cast of 40 traditional folkloric dancers (hand-picked from far-flung villages throughout Mexico) and 20 musicians make a special stop at the Spencer Theater on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 p.m., offering a premiere cultural experience of ornately choreographed traditions, song, flamenco, fiesta and tribal dance. As The Guardian declared Ballet Folklórico de México Excellent seats are available for $39-$69.
