LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS Comes to the Bakehouse Theatre

After a very successful year in 2018, STARC Productions will be kicking off their 2019 season at the Bakehouse Theatre with multi award-winning playwright Neil Simon's well-loved comedy LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS. Directed by Tony Knight and starring Marc Clement and Stefanie Rossi, this is a night of entertainment not to be missed.

Would you - could you - have you - ever had an affair? Barney Cashman is a married, successful New York fish restaurateur and father of three who is going through a mid-life crisis. Desperate to ensure the sum of his life is more than just "nice", he determines to have a romantic affair...he just doesn't know how to do it, or who to do it with. Over the course of one year he tries with three very different women with various degrees of success. Maybe the problem is the location - his mother's small downtown apartment - or is what he is looking for unrealistic and unattainable?

First performed in 1969, this production marks the play's 50th Anniversary by one of America's greatest playwrights. It is a brilliant and devastating satiric comedy about romantic sexual desire and harsh reality, and is as pertinent and relevant as ever. You will roar with laughter, and at the same time perhaps wince a little in recognition of hidden human desires and vulnerabilities.

So come along and allow us to transport you back to the age of sexual liberation with this timeless, heart-warming and thought-provoking comedy.
